Fall in Love with your Home… Again!
There’s something about February that makes us sentimental.
Maybe it’s the grey skies. Maybe it’s Valentine’s Day. Maybe it’s just that quiet pause before spring arrives and those back to back activities begin again.
For some reason, this time of year always makes me reminisce about my past homes. Not just as structures, but as chapters of our lives. I find myself going down a photo rabbit hole on my phone and connecting the memories to the homes. We have bounced around a bit and I tend to use where we lived as points on our timeline.
“That was fun! That was probably around 2016 because Conor was still pretty little and we were living on Grant Ave then…”
Every home fit our life at that moment in time. When life evolved, we repositioned ourselves in spaces that properly met our needs.
Remembering the emotions that drove your choices.
Do you remember the first time you walked into your house?
What made you say yes?
Was it the light pouring through the kitchen windows? The way the living room felt cozy? The backyard where you envisioned play, relaxation, or planting gardens? Or maybe it was more about the feeling… the sense that this is where life would unfold next.
Think back to who you were then.
Were you newly married?
Growing your family?
Starting over?
Taking a leap?
Downsizing?
Dreaming bigger?
Our homes hold those versions of us. They’ve witnessed birthday candles and quiet Tuesday nights. They’ve heard hard conversations and easy laughter. They’ve seen growth … sometimes in ways we don’t even notice day to day.
Like any good relationship, a home needs care.
Over time, it’s easy to shift into autopilot. The loose gutter waits. The paint scuff gets ignored. The HVAC filter quietly begs for attention. The sparkle fades just a little under the weight of everyday life.
Despite what the groundhog says, SPRING IS COMING! The light will stretch longer into the evening. Windows will open. Fresh air will move through the rooms. Spring is a season for rebirth and is the perfect time to reconnect and to show your home a little love.
Not necessarily in a dramatic, renovation-worthy way. Just in the small ways. Walk around your home with fresh eyes and take note of any neglected chores.
Replace the filters.
Clean the windows.
Refresh the mulch.
Perhaps spaces where we spend the most time could use a deep cleaning, or cosmetic refresh.
When we take care of our homes, they take care of us right back. Your home will comfort you, inspire you, and protect your personal moments.
I’ve created a simple “Love Your Home” Spring Maintenance Checklist to help you get started. It’s manageable and meant to feel encouraging… not overwhelming!

And while you’re reflecting, is life calling you to pivot?
Sometimes when we pause long enough to remember why we chose a home, we also realize how much life has changed since then.
Maybe your family has grown.
Maybe your work situation shifted.
Maybe you crave less maintenance.
Maybe you want more space to breathe.
Maybe you’re simply ready for a new chapter.
Don’t feel pressure in that realization. Simply acknowledge any shifts and perhaps evaluate if your home still meets your needs.
If your life has evolved and you find yourself wondering whether your home still fits this chapter of your life, I’d love to have that conversation with you. Not because you have to move, but because its OK to Imagine Your Lifestyle in a space that meets this moment in time.
For now, open a window when the weather allows to let the air refresh the room. Let the light in. Notice what you love. Show your home a little appreciation!
